The Difference Between the Internet and the Web

Many people make the mistake that the internet and the web or the World Wide Web are the same thing. In reality they are quite different and the people that invented them are completely different. The Internet is a network of networks or in simpler terms, an infrastructure. It’s what makes you capable of accessing the web. The Web (www) is a group of information that is placed on the internet for access. It is a service on top of that infrastructure. So you need the internet to get onto the web. A good example that the website used was that the internet is a big book store while the web is a collection of the books inside of the store.
There are several people that you could say invented the internet as well as the web because of all the logistical jobs that were involved. There were two main people for each that are well known for the creating of the Internet and the Web. Two men named Robert E. Khan and Vint Cerf are the ones who created the internet. The people who created the web are Timer Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau. It is because of these people along with the help of others that we are able to receive all the information we want in a click of a button.

Changing Paths

For the longest time, probably since I was in middle school I always thought business was what I wanted to do. I never really new what in business but I just new that it would be a good choice for me. As I look back I realized that I picked business because it was in my comfort zone and I really wasn't exposed to anything else. So freshman year I went in as a marketing major and I was thrown in to many course like accounting, business calculus, business law and I soon realized that business was not for me. The difficult part was that I still liked the idea of marketing but having it be lots of math was not for me. I then took an internship at a clothing company where I was in the public relations departing and fell in love with it. The only thing I was scared about was regarding switching my major to a bachelor of the arts degree since I don't find myself that creative and I am the least artistic person I know. Jump forward a year later I am in my first class in my major, Digital Media. I am a bit nervous because I have never done anything like this before but I have a feeling that Im going to like it. I know i'm going to have to work hard in this class since I feel like i'm a bit behind but I am excited. Eager to learn more about technology, different software and maybe even dig deep to find my inner artist.

About Me

I grew up and have lived in New Hampshire for my entire life. I live in a small remote area within the white mountains called Franconia. There is not much to do besides ski, hike and other outside activities which as you could imagine gets boring. I went to a small high school of 200 and lived with my sister, Macie my mom Jennifer and my dad John, along with my two dogs, Rosie and Banshee. Some of my favorite past times are hanging out with my friends, going to the beach, and working out. After high school I decided to go the University of New Hampshire as a marketing major. A year later I realized that staying in New Hampshire was not the best for me and I needed to go to a warmer climate so I transferred to the University of Tampa, where I found my best friends. I joined a sorority Delta Gamma where it has opened me up to so many opportunities. As of this year I also switched my major to advertising and public relations, I haven't taken many classes regarding this major so I am hoping I like it. Although I miss home everyday I am so grateful and happy that I moved miles away to Tampa!
